    The South Carolina Senate Judiciary is considering S.1084, the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act". Proponents of the bill say they want to be able to prosecute perpetrators of crimes against pregnant women to include the "second victim". However, we must ensure that the status of "personhood" awarded in this bill will not confer rights to zygotes,embryos and fetuses beyond this bill. Read More

    Later this spring, the U.S. Senate will consider S. 105, the Personal Responsibility, Work, and Family Promotion Act of 2005, better known as the Welfare Reform Act. An amendment will be offered by Senator Baucus (D-MT) that would give states the flexibility to use $50 million of Title V funding, authorized under S. 105, for comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention programs, rather than restricting this funding to abstinence-only-until-marriage programs.
