Access
Ensuring access - making sure our young people have the capability of getting appropriate reproductive health counseling and health services - is one of the most difficult challenges we face in South Carolina. The problem is multi-leveled. First, there is the physical nature of the state. South Carolina is still largely rural, and, in some extremely rural communities, medical or counseling services are nonexistent. Second, there is also a lack of public transportation in rural areas. Consequently, in some places in South Carolina, young people are not getting the help they need.
