Legislators need to gauge constituent support. The number of emails and phone calls they receive is one measure.
When an extreme minority advocates loudly, they can skew perception, giving the impression that more people support a policy than actually do.
When we counter their noise with messages that represent the majority view, we enable our legislators to represent mainstream citizens—and give them ammunition to back up their votes.
